The CCHS Panther wrestling team finished their season up this past weekend in Huntington at the State Tournament. The Panthers started off winning 5 of 6 matches on Thursday night, and all of the boys advanced to the next round. The competition started to get intense at this level with no slouches in any weight bracket. To become a State Champion, a wrestler had to go through some tough struggles. As the day progressed, two of the Panthers were beat out and that left three in contention for the championship. It was not to be the year of the cat, however. None advanced to the final round, but it was an awesome season for Clay wrestling. Brandon White finished in third place while Wyatt Dawson and Robert Pritt both brought home a fourth place. Not bad, not bad at all. With the new wrestlers coming into the program next season the future looks bright for CCHS wrestling. Congratulations to Coach Geoff Hamrick and Assistant Coach Robert Church on a great job all season and to the wrestlers who gutted it out all season.
