Today with religion being what it is there is opposition to talk or preach about the blood. It is offensive to many. We all have our opinion but the most important opinion is what does God say in His Word about the blood?
The first time we see the spilling of blood is in the Garden of Eden when God clothed Adam and Eve with the skins of an animal. Next we see that it was mandatory for the children of Israel to offer a sacrifice for the sins they had committed.
When the high priest went behind the veil into the Holy of Holies for the sins of the nation once a year it was not without the blood sacrifice.
When Israel was being set free from Egyptian bondage they were instructed to take the blood and smear it over the lintel and upon the side posts of the door. That blood would cause the death angel to pass them by and they would be safe.
It is the blood that Jesus shed on Calvary’s cross that washes away the sins of all who accept Him. His blood was the supreme sacrifice and the only sacrifice that was acceptable before God to cleanse us from all sin. Jesus had committed no sin in His life and therefore His blood was holy. His blood paid the price that we could become children of God and one day be ushered into Heaven to live forever.
However, it is only the ones who believe and repent of their sins and accept Jesus into their heart that can lay claim to such a promise. As the old song says, “there is power in the blood.” The devil cannot cross the blood line.
Eph. 2:13 says “But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.” Look at what Heb. 9:14 tells us: “” How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” Re 12:11 gives further information regarding the power of the blood by saying “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” Le 17:11 says: “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.” I thank God I have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus and am a new creature in Christ Jesus. I look to the blood of Jesus Christ for my salvation, protection and peace. I’m so glad I don’t have to depend on my works, my sacrifices or my good deeds or good intentions but my security is in the blood Jesus shed for me on Calvary’s cross. How about you?
Maranatha!
