The Lady Mustang volleyball regular season is over, and they will now compete in the CWVAC Championship tournament in Spencer this Saturday. All season long, the Lady Mustangs have been the team that has loudly and methodically taken apart most teams that have opposed them while often making other teams look like they were standing still.
They have also taken their hits but never given up the fight. They did it with kills, some of which had enough zip to take out a bear. They also did it with finesse on the net and by never letting a ball touch the ground without hitting the floor digging for it.
Serving the ball looked more like bullets finding dead center, some of which were so fast there was no reaction time for the other team. Case in point this past week was Emma Taylor on the JV team who single-handedly took apart the Wahama defense serving the whole game while getting all 25 points with 20 of those shots as aces. It was like watching clockwork with each girl playing their part at a hundred percent.
Coach Abbie Boggs and assistant Anissa Collins both did an outstanding job and should be commended for getting these ladies prepared, physically and mentally, to excel in this 2026 season. The Lady Mustangs were in a rebuild year and faced some tough teams in the regular season, yet going into tournament play they have some momentum from beating both Summersville and Wahama this past week.
If you like fully intense volleyball, head to Spencer this Saturday – you won’t be sorry. Congratulations to the Lady Mustangs on a great season and I’m sure they will bring it this Saturday.
Sophia Boggs, Kinley Collins, Sariah Dozer, Aubree Legg and Emma Taylor are the 8th Graders who will move on to CCHS and ultimately make the Lady Panthers a championship team again.
