The Clay County Hall of Fame Golf Tournament 2026 is officially over. This year’s event took place at the Big Bend Golf Course, and it was a beautiful day to get a round of golf in. Some players looked like they should be on the pro circuit, while others struggled adding up the strokes per hole.
It was a good day to be a swinger and a putter, and you can tell that by the low number scores handed in.
When the club swinging and slinging was done and all the out of bounds, hooks, slices, and downright good shots were added up, it was the team of Rick Ahart and Anthony Parker who shot a score of 63, won the event and claimed the coveted Rick Willis trophy and a couple of hundred dollars in spending money.
Wayne Halstead and George Wallace shot a 66 to place second and win the $100 pot while Dan Sizemore and Chad Sizemore took third with a score of 68 to split the $50 payout. However, the shot of the day came from Ethan Smith who had a hole in one on the 12th hole of the tournament.
Golf is life lessons in 18 holes. Ben Hogan once said, “Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots, and you get good breaks from bad shots but you have to play the ball where it lies.” Basically, life isn’t fair all the time and instead of wasting it complaining, focus all your energy on playing whatever circumstance where it lies. The winners of this tournament proved that to be true. Congratulations to the team of Ahart and Parker for their big win.
