Bats were on fire last week as the CCMS Mustang baseball team lectured Braxton Middle Knights on the fine art of baseball. Bases became dance floors, and home plate was crossed like busy railroad tracks. The Mustangs sent right handed Trenton Parker to the hill to chill the bats of the Knights. He was smoking the fast balls, and his dirty stuff had more English than the dictionary. However, the Knights notched the first runs on the board, scoring two runs on a single. Then the Mustangs took a stroll around the bases when the Knight pitcher couldn’t find the strike zone and tied up the game.
The Knights came right back and added two more runs to bring their lead to 4-2. The Mustangs had enough, and at the end of the 3rd inning decided to show up and “git er done.”
After another stroll around the bases, the Mustangs started bending aluminum scoring seven runs on three hits. The Knights couldn’t recover as the Mustangs sent ace reliever Palmer Adkins to the hill. He struck out four and allowed just two hits. Trenton Parker was king of the hickory with three RBI’s in the game. When the dust settled it was the Mustangs over the Knights 10-5.
