Larry David Begley, known to most as “Sleepy”, went home to be with Jesus on July 31st, 2013 after a long
illness.
He was retired from the Mount Olive Correctional Complex as a Mechanic and was formerly employed in the coal industry and was a truck owner/operator. He was a member of the Bell Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Cindy L. (Cole) Begley; mother, Margaret E. A (Woolwine) Begley; father George W. Begley; brother, John Stone Begley; sisters, Gertrude Ratliff, Darlene Loving and Shanda Hicks. Survivors include his brothers, Delbert Woolwine and wife Midge and Richard Begley and wife Mary; children; Larry David “Chunk” Begley, Jr. and Melinda Denise Begley Pauley and spouse Jay Pauley; mother of Larry and Melinda, Patricia Begley; stepchildren, Emily Wall and spouse Michael Wall and Danny Flores and Fiancé Nicolle Garnish; grandchildren, Heather Kay Stone, Megan Nadine Begley, Katie Dawn Begley, Makia Bartch, Kristin Nicole Adkins and husband Austin Adkins, Jordyn Brooke Pauley, Rylee Faith Pauley and James Gage Pauley; step grandchildren, Allison Lilly, Shawn Lilly, Ashley Wall and Brett Wall; one great grandchild, Jaylynn Shae Adkins; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed playing and singing gospel music, and sang with the Dixie Trio, The Harold Family and The Harbor Lights.
Services took place 11am Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, with Reverend Lee Holliday and Reverend Richard Harold officiating. Burial followed in Montgomery Memorial Park, London.
