Members of the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia issued the following statements after Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced the appointment of Gerald M. Titus III to fill the vacancy left by late Justice Tim Armstead, who passed away in August.
“On behalf of the Court, I would like to welcome and congratulate Gerald Titus III on his appointment to become the newest justice on the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia,” said Chief Justice William R. “Bill” Wooton. “As noted in the remarks during the press conference, it is impossible to replace Justice Armstead and the legacy he leaves with our Court and across state government. However, Gerald’s commitment to follow Tim’s example of dedicated service and to uphold the highest ethical standards of office will serve our Court and this state well.”
“We’re excited to welcome Gerald and his family to the Court,” said Justice C. Haley Bunn. “I know his significant trial experience and breadth of legal knowledge will serve our Court well. Additionally, his demeanor, integrity and commitment to ethics will honor the high standards Justice Armstead brought to this Court.”

Trump IV. “He has an outstanding reputation in the profession, and he is widely respected and recognized for his integrity and legal scholarship.
