If you ever look the definition of teamwork up in the dictionary, it would have just one phrase – the Lady Mustangs volleyball team. The Lady Mustangs are kicking some serious egos on the courts. If you want to beat the Lady Mustangs, you will have to pack a lunch, for sure, and not forget the tissues for the tears. The Lady Mustangs continue to show a championship quality that will hopefully get the trophy in the halls of CCMS. This past week they were pitted against one of the best teams on the courts – Geary Middle School. Other than a game or two when the Lady Mustangs were having off nights, they have methodically and with a good fan base on hand to watch taken apart any team that has faced them. They did it with kills, digs and serves, some of which had enough zip to knock down a small building. They also did it with finesse on the net and never allowing a ball to touch the ground without hitting the floor digging for it. Serving the ball looked more like bullets finding dead center, some of which were so fast there was no reaction time for the other team. It was like watching a clock work when they played with each girl giving a hundred ten percent. In the end, it was the Lady Mustangs taking the match in just two games. Geary is a good team which only proves the Lady Mustangs are a tough road to take if you want to be champion.
The Lady Mustangs are 10-3 on the season right now and are bent on one thing – getting the CWVAC championship trophy back to CCMS. They will have two home games this week against South Harrison and Summersville on October 8th and 9th. Both games will be humdingers as they are two of the teams that handed the Lady Mustangs their walking shoes on the court. With that being said, the Lady Mustangs will be ready to hand out a little revenge justice this week so come get your volley on and watch some good, high intensely played volleyball as the Lady Mustangs defend their keep. These ladies are prepared not only physically but mentally as well. If these girls can stay together as a team, one day they may help take the Lady Panthers to a state championship. They are that good and will only get better. Go Lady Mustangs!
