A Dose of Heart Behind Every Headlight

Set for October 4, 2025, at Haddad Riverfront Park, the Freedom Car Show is organized by the WV Statewide Independent Living Council (WVSILC). This vibrant gathering will feature hot rods, muscle cars, daily drivers, trucks, bikes, and some of the most innovative vehicle modifications you’ll ever see. From adaptive controls to specialized seating, ramps, and assistive technologies, many of these vehicles are engineered to restore what many of us take for granted: the ability to move freely, safely, and with dignity.

More Than a Car Show: Community + Cause

It’s not just the cars that make this event special. The Freedom Car Show promises something for everyone:

  • Live local music to keep the energy humming.
  • Food vendors offering everything from comfort food to local favorites.
  • Family-friendly activities like giant Jenga, cornhole, games for kids, and more.

An opportunity to meet exhibitors, engineers, and organizations who are pushing forward the frontiers of accessible transportation. If you or someone you know has ever thought about modifying a vehicle for mobility, this is the place to learn and connect.

Why It Matters: Turning Waitlists Into Wheels

The Freedom Car Show isn’t just for show; It supports real, tangible change. All proceeds go to the Community Living Services Program (CLSP), run by the WV Independence Network (WIN), which helps people with disabilities in West Virginia.

What does that mean in practice?

  • Funding adaptive modifications for vehicles so people with mobility challenges can drive or ride comfortably.
  • Providing assistive devices, durable medical equipment, home modifications, and accessible ramps.
  • Addressing a backlog: there is currently a waitlist of people who need help getting the vehicle or adaptive equipment they require, but funds are limited. Every car on display, every food vendor, every donor, every spectator helps move someone off that waitlist.

How You Can Help:

Attend. Give. Spread the Word. Bring yourself, bring your family, bring your friends. Whether you’re there for the cars, the music, or simply to support an important cause, your presence matters. It amplifies awareness, raises spirits and demonstrates to our community that accessibility isn’t optional – it’s essential.

Freedom Car Show Schedule:

  • Roll-in and Registration: 9am – 11am
  • Show Time: 11am – 6pm
  • Live Local Music: 11am – 6pm
  • Award Ceremony: 4:30pm
