Thursday night was homecoming night for the CCMS Mustangs, but it proved to be redemption night for South Harrison. South Harrison came in with one thing on their mind and that was to take down the Mustangs after last season’s loss. It was an all-out assault in the air and on the ground by the Hawks. On offense, it was an assault on the ground as the Mustang defense had a difficult time dropping their big runners, and they seemed to score at will. Hawks defense held the Mustang offense to a crawl early in the game by stopping any run or pass they had. Passing the ball was clearly impossible. The massive defensive line, combined with the speed of the linebackers and the backfield, created a wall between them and the goal line.
The Mustangs’ fire was nearly extinguished, but they kept plugging until the end of the game. The Mustangs had some good plays but tackling became a problem. The Mustangs could never get offense or defense going with any consistency throughout the game. When it was over the Mustangs took the hit and lost the game 0-38. The Mustangs will get ready this week to butt heads with the Knights of Braxton on their turf this Thursday evening. They will need to bring their best air show and ground and pound to the field of Braxton. This game will be a much-needed win for the Mustangs after this loss. If you get the opportunity, get out and watch a good football team go head-to-head with some tough competition. Go Mustangs!
Thursday night was not all about football – it was homecoming, after all, and the red carpet was rolled out for CCMS royalty. It was a Queen’s Night at Bradley Field, a night for the crowning of the new 2025 Football Homecoming Queen. The CCMS cheerleaders, dressed in their finest, got busy lining up in formation to welcome the 8th grade princess to the field – Kylie Kinser, Joelee Moore, Kinley Ramsey and Layla Sytewart – as fans cheered for each young lady announced. As they stood in anticipation, the announcement was made and the new 2025 CCMS Football Homecoming Queen would be Layla Stewart. Principal Leslie Goe placed the crown on her head as family and friends cheered. Layla is the daughter of Mike and Holli Samples and was escorted by Logan Morton. Layla will no doubt be a queen that represents the school well. Congratulations to Queen Stewart and her court.
Sixth grade princess Paisley Askins was escorted by Geary Smith. Sixth grade princess Aubree Truman was escorted by River Schoolcraft. Seventh grade princess Sadie Bird was escorted by Carson Brown. Seventh grade princess Brooklyn Johnston was escorted by Zane Peck. Seventh grade princess Zayla Oulette-Capwell was escorted by Zayden Hurley. All of the young ladies and their escorts represented CCMS very well.
