L. Frank Murphy, age 94, of Clay WV, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, at Braxton Memorial Hospital. At the time of his passing, Frank was the oldest living person who continually lived his entire life in Clay, except for two years given to Uncle Sam.

Surviving are his wife and love of his life for 70 years Betty T Murphy, daughter Bredga (Glenn) Neal, sons Joseph F Murphy and Samuel T Murphy, grandson Isaiah Murphy and great grandson Dylan Murphy.

He was preceded in death by his father Paul F Murphy, mother Nina F Murphy, brother, B.G. Murphy and grandson Issac Murphy.

Frank went to school for 12 years, where he never missed a day or was ever tardy and graduated with the “Great” class of 1948. He also attended Marshall University.

Frank was the definition of a multi-faceted entrepreneur as in real estate, manufacturing, construction and rental.

He was also a member of numerous Civil activities in Clay County including Civil Air Patrol, Housing Development, Fire Department and the Golden Delicious Festival, to name just a few.

Frank was also an avid pilot (airplane, helicopter, and glider.)

There will be no public service. Only a celebration of his life with family and friends at a later date.

Wilson Smith Funeral Home is honored to serve the Murphy Family.
