The CCHS track team is in the news again and continues making waves in the track world. The Panthers opened their season at a six team matchup at Roane County at the Don Williams Memorial on Saturday, March, 22. It was nearly a Clay County rout of the event.
The Panthers have a good all around team and will bring their A game to track events throughout the season. The team has continued to get better and better as the years roll by, and they are proving it to be true again this season. There are many new faces on the team and they are tough to outrun, especially on the relay teams. Most of the time during past seasons, the competition has brushed Clay off as overall competitors. The new faces on the team have made a great impact and have put the Panthers even further on top.
The boys placed second in the event, Justin Nida was first in the 110 High Hurdles while Evan Bass came in a close second. The boys smoked the competition in the 4×200 relay placing first by beating out Hoover. Jaylyn Robinson took second in the 100 meter dash, and Jayda Stricker was sixth. Jayda Woods took third in the 110 hurdles, and Xena Legg took second in the shot put. Seth Robinson took third in the shot put, Jayda Stricker took third in the long jump and Damian Stricker took second in the high jump. Also, Caden Fitzwater took fourth in the 400 meter.
This Panther track team is running their way into the record books and seems to be well on their way to a great season. Panther track teams will participate in the Lincoln County Invitational on April 2 and in the Raider Classic on April 8.
