The baseball season ended for the Panthers at Nichols County on Tuesday. They came out like a whirlwind against the Grizzlies of Nicholas County and short gamed them in the first game of the tournament 15-5. While it looked as if the Panthers would go the distance, the Hoover Huskies stood in the way. The Huskies are a very tough team with an outstanding pitcher’s club. The Panthers have had a tough time with them throughout the season, and they just couldn’t seem to get the runs across the plate as hits became scarce. Defensively, the Panthers held their ground but were still defeated by the score of 0-6. With this tournament being double elimination, the Panthers still had a chance, but it was a long shot. They would have to beat the Grizzlies in their next game and also beat the Huskies in back to back games. It wasn’t to be this year, however. The Panthers just couldn’t get back in the groove of the first game against the Grizzlies and were defeated, thereby ending their season. All in all, it was a good season with many great games won and lost. With that game, it closes sports out for the 2013 -2014 year for the Panthers. The Mustangs are also finished until fall sports. When one looks back, there were some highs and lows as there are for most schools. From football to baseball, the athletes gave a hundred percent, and that is all the fans of this county expect. Get set for the 2014-2015 season of sports, it looks be another banner year.
