The Panther wrestling team traveled to Braxton High School to compete in the Region II championship on Saturday, February 22. Here is where it would be determined who would move on to compete for a state title in Huntington. The top four in each weight class will move on. This was yet another year the CCHS team would make their mark on the mats. Three Panther wrestlers grappled to the top four. Blake Coleman at 144 pounds became a Regional Champion, Caiden Bryant placed second and Christian Bryant placed 4th. James Sears just missed the cut coming in 5th place.
It was a good tournament for the wrestling team, and even though they didn’t place high as a team, a first place, a second place and a 4th are not bad for the squad. The State Wrestling Tournament will be held at the Big Sandy Arena on Thursday, Friday and Saturday the week of March 6th. Come out and support the Panther wrestling team in their final tournament of 2025.
