The Mustangs basketball team was at home against Richwood while the Lady Mustangs were on the road in Richwood this past week. Both games would prove to be great season openers. The boys hit the floor, and talk about speed, they had it. They had a little bit of a rough time getting the ball to fall in the basket early in the first period but soon started getting their sights lined up. As the seconds ticked off, the boys got better acquainted with their game plan and worked the courts the way they needed to. Defense stepped up and got some rebounds and steals while battling in no man’s land under the hoops. The Mustangs will definitely be in the hunt for the net in each game they play this year; it promises to be an exciting season. In the end the boys scored at will and the game ended with the score, Mustangs 54 Richwood 36.
The Lady Mustangs started the season running and pounding; it was an all out Madison Square Garden style of in your face fight every second of the game. The Lady Mustangs came into this game to continue their exhibition style of basketball and give the fans their money’s worth. The Lady Mustangs played text book basketball on offense and defense. It was obvious that the Lady Mustangs were not taking anything from the game and left it all on the court. Offensively, the Lady Mustangs had a serious air force strike team. There isn’t a player on the team that isn’t a threat when they shoot.
A high five goes out to the Lady Mustangs for bringing home the win. The season looks bright for the Lady Mustangs. If Coach Atha and Assistant Coach Ramsey can keep this fiery pace going, who knows maybe a record season? Keep it up Lady Mustangs!
