Clay County children will be delighted this coming Saturday, Dec. 14, when, thanks to the efforts of Clay Mayor Jason Hubbard, Casie Boggs, and Donna Salisbury of the Clay Family Resource Center there will be Christmas events free to all Clay County children.
Beginning at 3 p.m. they will get to meet Santa at the Clay Family Resource building for photos, popcorn, and a quality Christmas gift- one of the $10,000 worth of STEM or STEAM gifts gathered to delight, educate, and entertain any and all children. Free to all Clay County children, Casie Boggs has orchestrated this Christmas adventure, a walkthrough with many ‘Bethlehem stops’ along the way. The walkthrough begins at the end of Clay near the old Pisgah Bridge and ends downtown at the IGA lot, from 4 to 6 p.m., called “A Journey to Bethlehem.” It will culminate in Christmas Parade at 7 p.m. The parade will gather at the Clay County High school and involves the High School Band. They begin the march at 7 p.m. The events are free to participate.
The Clay County Commission has graciously consented to keep the courthouse open to let people get out of the weather or go to the bathroom during the events just outside the front door. Area churches will be participating and vendors are encouraged to set up along the street.
Anyone wanting to know more or perhaps involve a float in the Christmas parade should call Casie at 304-993-6281. Please come celebrate Christmas this weekend with your neighbors in downtown Clay.
