Bryson Peters was deadly in the backfield.

By Allen Hamrick

This past week, the Bison of Buffalo flew into town with the intent of leaving Clay with a big loss. The Panthers, on the other hand, had their own ideas about the outcome. It was good to see so many fans in attendance at the game.  There isn’t much to be said about this game other than it was a complete thumping at the hands of the Panthers.   By the end of this game, Buffalo was flying the surrender please flag.  Panther defense was all over the field hitting like wild boars and picking apart the Bison passing game.  Had the Varsity stayed in after the half, the score could have possibly reached triple digits.  The Panther offense moved the ball at will and seemed to score just when they felt like it.  By the half, the Panthers had amassed 47 points and had no intention of letting it go.  Once the halftime highlights were over, the Panther JV took some of the helm and added 16 more points.  However, with the good nature of the Panther defense, the Bison put up 14 pat on the head points before the match was over.  In the end it was the Panthers over the Bison 53-14.

Noah Collins once again racked up the passing yards hitting 12 of 14 passes for 224 yards and five TD’s.  On the receiving end of the ball, it was Jacoby Nichols catching two passes for 102 yards and two TD’s; he also scored a TD on a run back after an interception.  Ayden Brown caught three for 75 yards, and Bryson Peters had three catches for 31 yards.  Running the ball was Seth Robinson with three carries for 71 yards, and Cooper Collins had two runs for 36 yards and a TD.  It was a good game for the Panthers as they start into the heavy side of their schedule.  Roane County and Sissonville are two opponents that always have some tough teams that won’t be as easy to contend with.  Clay Family Pharmacy owner Brandon Keiper and his family were recognized with appreciation for their support of Panther athletics for sponsoring the evening’s game.  Panther games will be at home the next two weeks, so come out and catch a game.
