Josh Shamblin, former mayor of Clay, passed away unexpectedly last week. He was twice elected to the mayoral position for the town, once in 2019 and again in 2023, before stepping down earlier from the role earlier this year due to personal reasons.
“The Town of Clay is deeply saddened by the passing of former Mayor Josh Shamblin,” the town announced on social media last week. “Josh served the Town of Clay as both a councilmember and mayor. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this time.”
A candlelight vigil was held at Tiskelwah Park on May 2 in his memory, with numerous speakers addressing the large crowd of attendees.
