WVCAN Releases Submission Criteria for Silent Art Auction
Today, West Virginia Child Advocacy Network (WVCAN) releases its call to artists for its annual art auction. The organization will be holding a silent auction, “New Beginnings,” on April 17, 2014, during Charleston’s ArtWalk from 5-8 PM. Proceeds from the event are split 50/50, with half of the proceeds going to local artists and the other half to benefit WVCAN. The event will be hosted by Romano & Associates located at 230 Capitol Street, Suite 200, Charleston, WV.
Emily Chittenden-Laird, Executive Director of WVCAN, explains, “This is a great opportunity for local artists to have their work displayed while benefiting the most vulnerable members of our state–child victims of abuse. Child Advocacy Centers served over 2,600 children last year across the state and gave them the opportunity for hope and healing–for a new beginning. We look forward again to this partnership with local artists to share their vision for ‘New Beginnings.’”
This will be the second year for the annual auction at Romano & Associates. WVCAN board member Shawn Romano notes, “The art auction creates a wonderful atmosphere for artists to gain visibility for their work, as well as promote prevention and awareness of child abuse. It will be an evening of inspiration, courage and support.”
Deadlines for submitting artwork is April 11, 2014, at 5pm.
