The Lady Panthers have had a rough week losing two games both at home and on the road. First up was Roane County, and the Lady Panthers simply couldn’t go basket for basket with the Lady Raiders. In their first meeting, the Lady Panthers lost the match up and couldn’t keep it close, but this time the Lady Panthers cut loose the ball and chain and stayed with the Lady Raiders. They did well on the boards but just got out shot at the net and lost the game 38-47.
Up next was South Harrison, and it was all a fan could ask for. The game was well calculated by both coaches. Leads changed like laundered money in the first period, but after that, the Lady Panthers played catch up and couldn’t get find a good rhythm to answer South Harrison.
It was a low scoring game in the first half as the score stood at 11-17 with the South Harrison in the lead. In the second half, the Lady Panthers fell off the wagon, shooting for just two points. South Harrison greased the net and expanded their lead to 24-13. No matter how hard they tried, the Lady Panthers couldn’t get the points made up from the first half. The Lady Panthers were all out in the 4th period with the game at a feverish pitch at this point. Foul trouble plagued the Lady Panthers as South Harrison hit for 12 free shots in the fourth. The Lady Panthers woke up and started playing Lady Panther basketball and hit for 15 points, but it was too little too late. The final score was 38-28 South Harrison.
Ilyauna Evans was top shot with 12 points. It was Senior night for the Lady Panthers as they bid farewell to seniors Alexis Gilliland and Paris Williams, two players who gave the fans their money’s worth over their years on the team. The Lady Panthers have just a few games left in the season before the start of Sectionals. Come out and catch a game. Go Lady Panthers!
