Senator Sam Cann (D-Harrison) announced Friday that he has called on Governor Tomblin to direct the appropriate state agencies to conduct a complete and thorough investigation into the February 1, 2014 cell tower collapse that took the life of Harrison County Volunteer Firefighter and EMT, Michael Garrett.
“Volunteer firefighters and first responders like Michael Garrett are absolutely critical to providing emergency services throughout West Virginia,” said Cann. “Their services are even more important in rural communities where they are often the only first responders available for many miles.”
Can has requested Governor Tomblin to appoint the appropriate authorities to investigate the cell tower collapse so that such tragedies can be avoided in the future.
“Our first responders meet their obligation to us every day by putting their lives on the line,” said Senator Cann. “This investigation is our way of meeting our obligation to them.”
“I have talked with Governor Tomblin and I know he shares my respect and concern for all those who serve as first responders,” added Senator Cann
