Fairborn, OH – Claudia Jean Starcher, of Fairborn, Ohio passed away peacefully in her home on February 17, 2014.
The daughter of Elvin and Irene Ashley, she was born in 1935, in Swandale, West Virginia.
Claudia graduated from Widen High School in 1952, and Charleston Hospital School of Nursing in 1956.
She was married on June 20, 1956 to the love of her life and husband of fifty seven years, Jack D. Starcher.
As a United States Air Force wife, Claudia had the opportunity to live in Germany, England, Georgia, and Florida, before settling in Fairborn, where she and Jack chose to raise their family.
Claudia was a long-time member of Maple Heights Baptist Church in Fairborn.
She was employed by the Fairborn City Schools for twenty-two years as a school nurse at East Elementary School.
As her children went through high school, Claudia was known as an avid supporter of the Fairborn Park Hills Viking Guard for whom she helped make band, drill team, and field commander uniforms.
She was an avid camper and loved to fish.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elvin and Irene Ashley, her brother Emil Dean Ashley, and her son, Stephen “Doug” Starcher.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Jack; her son, Roger and his Life Partner Jim Scarpino, of Smithville, Missouri; her daughter and son-in-law, Teri and Rod Gough of New Carlisle, Ohio; her grandchildren, Aaron and Hannah Gough, Jessi Gough, Gracie Gough, Cody and Shelby Starcher, and Colin Starcher, several great-grandchildren, and her much loved poodle Kalli.
Claudia will be remembered as a wonderful wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and dear friend.
Visitation was held Friday Feb 21, 2014 from 4-6:00 p.m. with services at 6:00 p.m.

Graveside Services were Monday 2/24/14 at 2:00 at Walnut Grove, Strange Creek, WV
