A crippling snow storm travelled across the East coast mid- week, dumping snow and ice in more than a dozen states. Here in Clay, heavy snow fell Wednesday night into Thursday leaving around 10” of the beautiful white snow everywhere. Steady precipitation continued to fall, making it nearly impossible for DOH crews to keep the roads clear and maintained. Due to the wintry conditions and unsafe road conditions, Clay County schools were closed Thursday. The Clay Courthouse facilities as well as WV State operated facilities were also closed. Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin urged residents to remain at home and to avoid traveling the highways.
