Building relationships is what Clay County Services Unlimited is focused on. Located in the previous Lion’s Club Building on Main Street in Clay, there is a group of young men who have been letting their artistic side shine through.
For the past few months, and for many more months to come, organizers of Clay County Services Unlimited have invited local community members, small business owners, crafters, etc. to spend the day showing these men how to make masterpieces they can be proud of.
Valentine’s Day paintings were done at the end of January, and their works of art were still displayed when I had the privilege of creating some delicious cupcake creations. Being a home baker, my passion is sharing baked goods with others, so to have the opportunity to bake, decorate, and display these cupcakes with this group was an enjoyable experience.
The group of seven was eager to create some cookie monster and minion cupcakes. Working in groups, step by step, we prepared, baked, and decorated with lots of laughs and fun along the way. When complete they proudly packaged their cupcakes to take home to enjoy and show off to their families.
Every month the group will be participating in a new activity with locals to try their hand at a new craft. This is a great way to get them comfortable with new people and learn new skills that are fun and enjoyable as well.
