Clay’s smaller Panthers played the St. Mary’s Blue Devils in intermediate football. Though the rain subsided at times the showers never fully stopped Sunday. The visitor’s stands were in good condition with excited spectators and though the weather was damp, Panther spirit was high.
C team started out the day off in a torrential down pour that lasted most of the game. Big hearts and smiles were persistent throughout the game despise cool, wet conditions. Overall, it was a great team effort. The Blue Devils overcame our Panthers in the end.
B team game had all attendees on their feet in the stands. 0-0 at the end, our Panthers went into over time. St. Mary’s had control of the ball first but was forced to turn over. Your Panthers scored on the 4th down to win the game.
Finally, A team fought in the sludge and muck with nothing left behind. It was an outstanding performance. The Blue Devils fought but it in the end heart won. Our Panthers stood strong 7-6.
Let us not forget the sweetest of supporters, our cheerleaders! They persevered when most girls would’ve left. Wringing wet, they still chanted us to victory or stood strong when we failed. Combined, Clay should be proud of all their mini athletes.
