When tragedy strikes in Clay County, you can depend on the community members to rally behind you in your time of need. Tragedy struck the Stone family this past week and the support that the county has shown is overwhelming. Dustin and Jessica Stone were hit with the unthinkable as parents when their son, 10-year old Tyson Stone, was killed on an ATV and their niece, Rylee Murphy, badly injured.
Tyson was an incredibly smart little boy with so much life left to live. His smile was contagious. He was actively involved in football with his favorite team mates, his three brothers, Dalton, Devin, and Braden. A big part of the Clay County Intermediate Football league family that will be missed on that field.
When the news hit, the community rallied behind this family to help with the task no parent should face. Not only helping with final expenses, but the needs for Rylee and her recovery, as well. So many businesses and organizations came together to make sure these needs were met.
The Clay County Mud Runner’s organized at Mud Run for June 26, and the Clay County little league softball teams, in which Rylee was a player, held a bucket brigade. The Clay County Intermediate Football League set up a fund at The Clay County Bank, in which you can drop off your donations.
The Clay Senior and Community Services is hosting a spaghetti dinner on July 1 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at their location on Main Street. Meals are $10 and all proceeds benefit these families. That is just to name a few… there are many more that are doing all they can to help in this time of need.
In a small town, everyone knows your name, everyone knows your family, everyone knows your business, but in the darkest times, everyone knows your needs, and they step up to fill those. Keep these families in your thoughts in the days to come.
