Gloria “Helen” Jeffers, 91, of Destin, Florida formerly of Clay, WV, passed away on August 6, 2020 at Pruitt Health Nursing Home in Tallahassee, FL due to strokes and contraction of COVID-19.

Helen was born February 20, 1929 in Swandale, West Virginia. She retired from the Clay County School District working at the Clay County Junior High School. She was a proud Golden Delicious Apple Festival Belle and a Lifetime member of the Eastern Stars. Upon her retirement, Helen possessed a passion for being around her friends, sons, grandchildren and all the people of Clay that she adopted over the years as her own. One of her greatest loves in life was caring for her kittens that she just happened to acquire and baking her cookies.

She is survived by: her loving sons, eldest son John Jeffers of Greenwood, MO and his wife Illona Jeffers; son, Joseph Jeffers and his wife Kimberly Jeffers of Dixon, MO; grandchildren, Maggie Jones of St. Joe, MI, Christina Crandall-Scanlon of Belton, MO, Melissa Kelley of Dixon, MO, Stephanie Phillips of Cave Springs, AR and Jessica Hammock of Dixon, MO; and 11 loving great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Allie Moore Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 100, Clay, WV 25043, or a charity of your choice.
