Silas Leon Sattler

On Monday, July 20, 2020, Silas Leon Sattler, devoted husband, father, and grandfather traveled on into eternity at the age of 70.

Silas was born on March 23, 1950 in Widen, WV to the late James (Fat) and Fonda (Hamrick) Sattler. Silas was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny and Wink. He is survived by brothers, Rowdy, Paul, and Jeff; sister, JoAnn.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army receiving the Army Commendation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

Silas retired from WV Department of Highways on bridge construction. He enjoyed retirement life, traveling with the love of his life, Priscilla Darlene (Jarrell) Sattler. Over their 43 years together Silas and Priscilla traveled most of the United States and multiple countries.

Silas designed and engineered the home they raised their five children in on Sattler Mountain, Katrina (Jay) of Tennessee, Sonya of Clay County, Sophia (Joel) of California, Silas Leon, II (Nicole) of Pocahontas County and Skyler (Courtney) of Clay County.

Silas’s favorite times were those spent with his family, who loved him dearly. He had twelve grandchildren and one on the way, as well as one great grandchild on the way.

Military graveside services were held 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 24, 2020 at Sattler Cemetery, Widen Ridge Rd, Clay, WV with American Legion Post #33, Sutton and Pastor Alva Blankenship officiating.
