The weather in Clay County has been near perfect for some fun in the sun. As you drive by the river you can see people enjoying the sunshine and taking in some of the best views that nature has to offer. Kayaks can be seen enjoying the Elk River, with water temperatures and levels near perfect for the long summer days. Whether you wish to spend it fishing, kayaking, or swimming, the Elk River is a perfect choice for some safe social distancing fun in the sun.
If you would rather keep your feet on the ground, the ERTS trail is beginning to open with the area between Ivydale and Dundon ready to enjoy. You can use the trail by hiking, biking, horseback riding, or ATV/UTV. These trails provide a nice alternative to beating the summer heat and enjoying the natural Clay County beauty.
If you need an escape and the river isn’t for you, the Clay County swimming pool is open, under certain guidelines, and ready for you to enjoy. The maximum capacity for the pool has been raised from 45-80 people and ask that if you do not live in the same household that you are following the 6-foot guidelines. Your temperature will be checked upon arrival. The pool hours are Monday-Saturday 12-6pm. Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for students.
