The Clay County Health Department, Clay County Parks & Recreation, and the Be Healthy Project have collaborated to bring a nine-hole disc golf course to Maysel Park. This course offers a beginner’s disc golf course be played free of charge. Individuals will need to bring their own disc.
A grand opening event was held on July 11 at 6 p.m. This event was to highlight the new activity available. Disc golf is a great way to be outside, walk, and have fun. Disc golf is also great outdoor option during this COVID-19 pandemic.
This course would not be possible without the efforts of volunteers. Clay County Health Department would like to express our sincere appreciation to: Doug Wayne for his hard work at marking longer throwing points and keep the disc path cleared; Kyle Legg and Greg Brown for bringing equipment to mow the area; Josh Adkins and Scott Brown for their hard work at weed eating and clearing shrubs/limbs from the walking path; and Grant Young for working to install a disc return box.
Thank you to the WVU Extension Office Be Healthy Project for making this course possible!
Please take advantage of this new opportunity to be active and engaged in the outdoors and your health.
