Clay County family and friends of West Virginia State Police officer Silas Belt are proud of the work Trooper Belt does. This week, Trooper Belt and his partner helped to assist with the water rescue of a man, saving his life. The accident happened when a car slid off the road and into the creek in the Peach Creek area of Logan County. When the local fire department and state police arrived on the scene of the accident, the vehicle was fully submerged with a man trapped inside. A group of brave first responders jumped into action to save the trapped man. The currant of the water was taking the car down stream but quick thinking saved the man’s life. The driver and Trooper Belt were taken to the area hospital and treated for hypothermia where, they were later released. Trooper Belt is now back to duty.
