The Cardinal Roasters Bakery and Café is now open in Clendenin. Owners Rick (pictured) and Anita Owens say they are excited to be serving the community through both food and fundraising efforts in the area.

If while driving through Clendenin you get the urge for a sweet treat or a fresh brewed cup of coffee, check out Cardinal Roasters Bakery and Café.

Located on Elk River Road North at the bottom of Kelly Hill, this establishment specializes in cobblers, pies, pastries and so much more.  They offer lunch specials, including chicken salad and fresh baked pepperoni rolls, daily.

Owners Rick and Anita Owens live in Clendenin and have been married for 10 years. They have a total of nine girls ranging in age from 4-36 years old, 10 grandchildren with number 11 on the way, and they are currently awaiting the arrival of their first great grandchild.  Rick said it has always been his dream to have a bakery, and to put his love of baking and roasting coffees to work.

His vision for the bakery is to offer delicious treats and coffee to the community, and to help in fundraising efforts that will benefit the groups in the area.  You can stop by and try all the goodies out for yourself on Thursday and Fridays 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with plans on adding Wednesday hours from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the near future.

You can follow the bakery on Facebook at Cardinal Roasters and Café or by contacting them at 304-415-6898.
