Clay County seniors are busy getting in the holiday spirit. They have been busy this Christmas season having fun, making memories, and spending time with friends. Their most recent event was a very successful Christmas Bazaar.

The Christmas Bazaar was held at the CSCS building on Thursday, December 6. Vendors could rent a table to display their products from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. With several taking advantage of this opportunity to show their work and help out the seniors in the process, it was a great first-time event.  You could find a little of everything that day, some of the items available were handmade blankets, purses, wooden bowls, hand carved wooden signs, crocheted rugs, primitives, jewelry, baked goods, and much more.

Renee Brown has been crocheting rugs and making re-purposing antiques for nearly twenty years. She can have crochet you a custom rug in about three days, and enjoys giving old items new life.  Eddie Westfall from Glen, WV can take an ordinary piece of wood and transform it into a beautiful piece of art.  He makes wooden wind chimes, kitchen signs, and about anything you can think of out of various types of wood.  He takes pride in his craft and has been creating these pieces for about three years.

After a busy day the seniors relaxed with a little holiday painting on Friday, December 7.  Many showed up for the ongoing event to pick up a brush and create a masterpiece.  This month’s theme was “there’s snow place like home” and every painting was a true work of art.
