As a way to say thank you, Bed and Breakfasts across the United States open their doors and offer a free night’s stay at a cozy inn during the November Veteran’s Day holiday. Several inn keepers throughout West Virginia extended this gratuity, but one in particular captured my heart.
My husband is an 82nd Airborne Army veteran who proudly served his country for several years before becoming a teacher here at Clay County High School. Trying to give him a small reward for his sacrifices, I contacted Larry and Paula at the Chestnut Ridge Bed and Breakfast in Dunmore, WV to inquire about the B&B for Vets program. Lucky for us, they were more than willing to invite us to spend the night in their inn, free of charge the weekend of Veteran’s Day.
Joining two other military couples for exchanging of friendship, service stories and magnificent peach French toast was a blessing. Our hosts were more than gracious and hospitable in allowing us to stay in their home. Their support of my husband’s service, and the service of other veterans like him, shows true patriotism and care for others.
