George Henry Elswick, 81, of Dixie, entered into rest Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born February 19, 1937 in Gauley Bridge, he was the son of the late James and Cora (Kinser) Elswick.

George was a caring son, husband, father and grandfather.  He was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and worked at Elswick Lumber Company from the age of 15 until the saw mill closed in 2009.  He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years and was stationed at Ft. Meade, MD.

George is survived by his wife of 56 years, (Phyllis) Kay Cogar Elswick; sons Steve (Patty) Elswick, Mark (Audrey) Elswick and Jeff (Kelly) Elswick; 11 grandchildren, Morgan, Caleb, Lindsey, Kristen, Abby, Jacob, Jonah, Mateo, Jenna, J.T. and Taylor; brothers, Paul “Tink” (Pat) Elswick, Roger (Drema) Elswick; sister, Patsy (Joe) Brown, brother-in-law, Doug (Tracy) Cogar, Carl (Judy) Cogar and Randy Cogar; sister-in-law, Debra (Jerry) Donahue.

A funeral service was held Tuesday May 15, at Bell Creek Baptist Church, Dixie, with Pastor Shane Wynn and Minister Jim Boswell officiating.  Burial followed at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Ansted.
