The Clay County Commission met on Wednesday, May 9, for a regular session. A motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting was approved.
A motion to approve the bills and purchase orders as presented was approved. A motion to approve a refund of erroneous assessments as presented by the Assessor for Kathryn E. King and Peggy Starcher was approved. A motion to approve the erroneous assessments as presented by the assessor for Adam Cantrell and Stacey Cunningham was approved.
The budget revisions were approved. A Request of Waiver of Final Settlement for the estates of Shirley Burnside, Catherine Genevieve Paxton, Miriam S. Sizemore, Joyce G. Hoffman and Justin Benjamin O’Brien, deceased was approved. A Final Settlement Report for the estate of Patsy Ann Hart and the release of Sheriff Donald Triplett as Administrator was approved. A motion to confirm probating the Last Will and Testament of James Robert Hutchinson, deceased and the appointment of Barbetta Hutchinson, Executrix was approved. A motion to confirm probating the Last Will and Testament of Donna J. Osborne and the appointment of Robert Blaine Osborne, Executor was approved. A motion to confirm probating the Last Will & Testament of John Larry Marling, deceased and the appointment of Ramonda Marling and Mischelle Williams, Co-Execturix was approved.
A motion to approve the appointment of Lois Jean Harmon, Administratrix DBN for the estate of Betty Jean Harmon, deceased was approved. A motion to approve the appointment of Irene J. Sears, Administratrix for the estate of Herbert Arnold Sears, deceased was approved. A motion to approve the appointment of Cleva Massey, Administratrix for the estate of Deanna Joyce Spinks, deceased was approved. A motion to approve the appointment of Randall Lee Brock, Administrator for the estate of Cora Gae Criner, deceased was approved.
A motion to approve Resolution No. 22 authorizing payment of invoices relating to design, construction and other services for the Pack Fork and Independence Road Water line extension project was approved. The project is currently about 46% complete with 68 meters set and 22 have already hooked up. Testing will begin within the next 30 days to be able to hook up the rest. With all of the bad weather this spring, the original deadline of July 7-10 has been pushed back to around August 24. Another crew will be coming in to help with the completion of the project to get it done as quick as possible.
A motion to reappoint Maria Moles as a member of the Clay County Business development authority for a term ending April 22, 2021 was approved. A motion to approve a list of delinquent real and personal taxes for tax year 2017 as presented by Sheriff Donald Triplett was approved. A motion to approve the 2018 Land and Personal Property Books for Clay County was approved. a motion to approve the annual maintenance agreements for a Savin C9020 and Savin MP4054 copier located in the Circuit Clerk’s Office was approved. A motion to proclaim Clay County as a Purple Heart County was approved.
