Clay County received the very first snowfall of the season early Tuesday morning with most areas receiving a light dusting of around 1” total accumulation. Appalachian Power reported that around 2,000 homes and businesses in neighboring Kanawha County were without electricity early Tuesday morning. However, no major traffic accidents or power outages were reported in our area due to the winter road conditions.
As winter weather approaches, remember that drivers travelling West Virginia roadways should always stay updated on road conditions, traffic information and weather alerts. Within the state, drivers can dial 511 to access that information; while out of state drivers can call 855-MY-WV-511 to receive the same information. Traffic information can also be found at www.wv511.org. There is also a WV511 Drive Safe Mobile App that provides audible updates about construction, crashes, traffic delays and weather advisories.
