Through a special grant, some members of the CCMS Mustang band got the opportunity to attend a performance by the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra on November 16. This was indeed a special show because internationally recognized conductor Gerard Schwarz, famous for his ability to make music come alive, was the guest conductor of the symphony. Also in the show, students were gifted to hear Lola Astanova, a Russian born pianist, perform. She has played all over the world with an invigorating blend of artistic and soulful playing. This was indeed a great opportunity for the students of CCMS band to attend a live cultural performance. All of the pieces played were written by Russian composers. It was also a chance for them to get a feel for the big stage and there is no doubt that this performance will heighten their zeal to become the best musicians they can be. Thanks to Doug Wayne for spearheading this amazing trip.
