Board of Education recognizes students, approves staffing changes

The Clay County Board of Education met at Clay County Middle School for a regularly scheduled meeting on March 26.

A motion to approve the agenda was approved. A few groups were recognized before the remainder of the action items was addressed. The Clay Middle School cheerleaders were conference champions, a few cheerleaders were in attendance along with their coaches, Chelsea Dorsey and Megan Shafer. The wrestling team under coach T.J. Legg was recognized for being conference champs, as well. Lastly, the TSA, under advisory of Jessica Ramsey, was recognized for an outstanding performance at the State TSA competition where they brought home 28 first place titles and 19 second place titles, as well as many others and an overall outstanding chapter.

A motion to approve the minutes from the previous meeting was approved. A motion to approve the proposed levy order for the 2018-2019 school year was approved.  Actions items 4, 5, 6 and 7 were included as one vote. The charts are included. Items 4-7 to approve the following professional employees and service personnel employees for transfer/termination for the 2018-2019 school year was approved. Note:  This is an annual precautionary action that assumes the loss of federal funding levels for the 2018-2019 school year, action will be recommended to rescind transfers/terminations as needed.

A motion to approve the resignation of Maxine Miller as Handyman for Clay County Schools, effective March 26, 2018 was approved. A motion to approve the employment of Linda Kay Miller as Custodian (evening shift) at Clay County High School was approved. A motion to approve the transfer of Dustin Vaughan from 3rd grade teacher at H.E. white Elementary School to 4th grade teacher at Big Otter Elementary School was approved. A motion to approve the employment of Luke Kleman as Assistant Softball Coach at Clay County Middle School was approved.

A motion was made to recess until the 3rd Tuesday (17th) in April at Central Office.
