Clay County Board of Education met on Monday, February 12, 2018. After approving the minutes from the previous meeting and approving to pay the bills, the meeting continued with the resignation of Jason Nichols as head softball coach at Clay County High School, effective immediately, being approved.
A motion to approve the resignation of Aaron Williams as Athletic Trainer at Clay County High School, effective immediately, was approved. A motion to approve the resignation of Rebecca Elmore as evening custodian at Clay County Middle School, effective immediately, was approved. A motion to approve the resignation of Gloria Sears as Literacy Teacher for the Big Otter After School Program, effective immediately, was approved. A motion to approve the resignation/retirement of Steve Ware as teacher at Clay County Middle School, effective at the end of the 2017-2018 school year, was approved. A motion to approve the employment of Erica Perdue Smith as substitute teacher for the 2017-2018 school year was approved. A motion to approve the employment of Leslie Osburn as Head Softball Coach at Clay County High School was approved. A motion to approve the employment of Billy Varney as the assistant Softball coach at Clay County Middle school was approved. A motion to approve the resignation of Leslie Osburn as Head Softball Coach at Clay Middle School, effective immediately, was approved. A motion to approve the resignation of Joyce Lewis as Resource Teacher at Big Otter Elementary School, and the posting of her position effective immediately, was approved. A motion to approve the out of county/overnight trip for Clay County High School HOSA students and chaperones to attend State Competition in Huntington, WV – March 9, 10, 2018 was approved. A motion to approve the purchase of six uniforms (shirts and pants) for Clay County Reserve Deputies at approximately $60 per uniform was approved. A motion to approve the out of county transfer of Kinsely Ann Duffield from Kanawha County Schools to attend school in Clay County was approved.
