God’s goodness is more powerful than Satan’s evil

By Lee Roy Anderson

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” -Psalm 1:1. “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and he delighteth in his way.” -Psalm 37:23.

God’s goodness is more powerful than Satan’s evil. Being granted the ability and privilege to give to God’s work is a blessing in itself. God expects believers to be examples to unbelievers. Christians should pray for their church and their leaders. Living a sanctified life is God’s will for every believer. The search for religious freedom brought our forefathers to America. They believed that religious freedom worshiping God according to the dictates of conscience would also free them from political tyranny or exercise of power, oppression. With a living faith in God and the Bible as a guidebook, they felt they couldn’t fail. Their children were born here and other generations followed. Our America became a great nation! Today, however, many have forgotten who and what made our country great. It seems strange that what built this country, hard work and faith in God, is becoming distorted.

But one thing is certain, without the healing and life-giving water this greatness can fade away and our nation sink to oblivion. We need to go to the well of living water, or life-giving water, the bible talks about in John 4:1-34. Too many of us try to satisfy our inner longings at the daily decorated stagnant pools of worldliness, but they are always destructive and ultimately dissatisfying. In this mode of living there are no winners. Doing away with parts of the bible is another manner of polluting the well of life. Too many people are in search of righteousness through empty forms and foolish traditions. This is how the scribes and Pharisee choked the fountains of life for themselves and others who looked to them for direction. Jesus came to purify the well of life and succeeded for all who accepted him. Yes, we too have scribes and Pharisees who are sticklers for tradition, details, forms, and cling to conformity while neglecting their souls. They are selfishly proud unbrotherly and love to exalt themselves. If you are not very kind, you are not very holy. A true Christian is a person who is right side up in a world that is upside down. Remember, drink deeply of the well of life.
