The Clay County Board of Education met on Monday, June 26. To start off the meeting, Joe Paxton took his oath of office as the new superintendent. Dave Mullins was also elected as the RESA III representative.
In other business, a motion to approve the agenda was approved. A motion to approve the minutes from the previous meeting was approved. A motion to approve budget revisions for the 2017-2018 school year was approved. A motion to approve additional year-end budget supplements and transfers prepared prior to July 1, 2017 ,for approval at the July 10, 2017, board of education meeting, was approved.
A motion to approve Brickstreet Insurance as the Workers compensation carrier for the 2017-2018 school year, was approved. A motion to approve WV Brim as the property insurance carrier for the 2017-2018 school year, was approved. A motion to approve the Clay Middle School band request in the amount of $4,344 was approved. A motion to approve the Clay County High School FBLA request in the amount of $6,500, to travel to Anaheim, CA, to compete in the national competition was approved.
A motion to approve Southwestern School Cooperative for the food service program for the 2017-2018 school year was approved. A motion to approve the employment of Angela Walker as multiple disabilities resource room teacher at Clay County High School, pending certification, was approved. A motion to approve the employment of Brian Legg as bus operator for bus no. 58, was approved. A motion to approve the overnight/out of county trip for Clay County High School FFA to attend state convention at Cedar lakes July 12-July 15 was approved.
