Secretary of State Mac Warner issued a legal notice to state newspapers on Wednesday, June 28, announcing the details and date of a road bond election.

The West Virginia Legislature passed Senate Joint Resolution 6, the Roads to Prosperity Amendment of 2017, at the request of Governor Jim Justice on April 8. The amendment, if passed by the voters, will give the Legislature authorization to issue and sell state bonds to be used for improvement and construction of state roads.

Justice signed a proclamation on June 28 setting the date for the road bond special election for Saturday, Oct. 7. The state Constitution requires that any amendment to the Constitution be submitted to voters for ratification or rejection in a special election.
