In other sports news, the baseball and softball teams from CCHS and CCMS hit the field this week and had some highs and lows on the diamond.

The CCHS Lady Panther softball team has been in a slump, dropping five of their last seven games in the losing bracket. However, they did have wins against Nicholas County and Webster County. It was a close one with Nicholas County with the Lady Panthers winning 6-5, and with Webster County they short gamed the Lady Highlanders 16-0. Their bats were hot and they had few mistakes.

The Panther baseball team went one for two with a big win coming against Midland Trail 18-6. The Panthers lost a close one against Herbert Hoover 3-4. It was a good game, but mistakes will kill you.  It was also mistakes against Nicholas County that cost them, and the Grizzlies went on to win 1-6.

The Panthers will be on the road Tuesday night in Doddridge County, but will be at home first against Brighton, NY, on Monday night.

The CCMS Lady Mustangs went one for two this week, as well, with their only win coming against Walton. They did win big, however, on a couple of grand slams by Abbie Moore and Jaycee Collins. They will be at home against Calhoun County on Tuesday night for a double header.

If you get the chance this week, get out and catch a game.
