A Look back at January 2017

Last week, students from Clay Middle School were awarded $5,000 and team member tablets for winning the Verizon App Challenge. After ringing in the New Year, 2017 was off to a running start.

Looking back at the past month, we see that Clay Development was taken over by another agency, with director Pam Taylor removed from her position. Clay County Commission approved a resolution designation December 28, 2016, as Clay County Middle School Day in honor of the volleyball team for having a perfect 18-0 season. Fran King started her elected term as a county commissioner for the next six years, as well as Donny Triplett as the new sheriff. Clay County commission met to set the hours for the courthouse, which will remain the same as previous years, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Students with Clay Middle School TSA were informed of their winnings of the Verizon App Challenge, as well as Verizon employees visiting Clay Middle School to present them with a $5,000 check for their TSA chapter and tablets for the six team members. The Bob Stover Classic was held the last weekend in January, which will be highlighted during this edition.  February has fast approached and is starting full swing
