The Lady Panthers have been on the road for the last couple of weeks taking their game to Gilmer County and Webster County this past week.

The Lady Panthers came out swinging against the Lady Titans of Gilmer but were completely out bombed in the first period, scoring only five points. It quickly became time for catch up basketball. The Lady Panthers showed no quarter in the second, matching shots with Gilmer, but were still back eight points at the half.

The Lady Titans were 9-1 on the season before this game, and they had a distinct height advantage at center and some ace shooters on the perimeter. With an obvious pep talk at the half, the Lady Panthers pulled out all the stops in the third and out-muscled the Lady Titans under the board with a terrific defense. Catilyn Murphy and Makayla Horrocks were tough in open court stealing the ball and upsetting their opponent’s plays, making the Lady Titans deviate from their game plan.

Nothing needs to be said other than the Lady Panthers were full-on in the third, scoring 20 points, and at the end of the third, the Lady Panthers were on top by one.

However, it didn’t last. The Lady Panthers could only muster five points in the fourth period with plenty of looks at the boards. There were some questionable calls toward the end, but the Lady Panthers just couldn’t get the ball to fall when they had the opportunities.

It was a well fought game by the Lady Panthers against a very tough team. The Lady Panthers can beat anybody on the courts if they can stay consistent at the hoop. Sarah Boggs was the ace for the night going two for two from the charity line and adding 12 more from the field. Makayla Horrocks was close by with nine points.

The final score was Lady Panthers 47, Lady Titans 52.

The girls went on and played a really good game against the 1-9 Lady Highlanders and had no trouble winning by the score of 78-30. After one more road trip, the Ladies will be back at home against Roane County on Friday night.

Come out and support the Lady Panther basketball.
