On August 18, from noon to 4 p.m., volunteer attorneys organized by Legal Aid of West Virginia will be on hand at the Clay County Courthouse to offer information to county residents about flood related legal issues. Problems attorneys can help with include insurance denials and appeals, FEMA decisions, concerns about landlords and contractors, and other legal issues directly related to the flooding event. County residents must schedule an appointment by calling Legal Aid Coordinator David Frercks at 304-343-3013, ext. 2138. The deadline to schedule is Monday, August 15, 2016, but appointments will be made on a first-come, first-served basis, and interested individuals are encouraged to schedule as soon as possible to secure their spot

The Clay pool will hold a Goodbye Summer Pool Party on Saturday, August 6, from 7-10 p.m. There will be live music by Ten Feet Tall.
All are welcome for a community meet and greet at the Dille Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, Aug. 6, at 12 p.m. There will be food and entertainment provided. It will be a great opportunity for the public to meet with representatives from multiple organizations. The representatives will be able to provide information on resources available as well as, how to access them. This is also a great way for everyone to meet others living within the area. Please utilize this meet and greet event as a way to become familiar and educate yourself on all the different resources available for your needs. It is important that everyone comes together as a team in the road to recovery, and what better way to do it then over food and socializing?
Clay County Schools has made the following announcements: all sports require a sports physical dated on or after June 1, 2016, before a student can try out/practice. Forms must be given to coach on first day of tryouts/practice.

The 1961 graduating class of Clay County High School will hold its 55th Class Reunion on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Clay County High School in the band room beginning at 3:00pm until 8:00pm. The Class of 1962 will break for dinner at 5:00pm in the cafeteria. The dinner is sponsored by the Clay County Bank and in conjunction with the Clay County High School and widen High School alumni Gathering.
