Eph. 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, I have heard it taught that if you were one of the chosen ones that no matter what you do in life you would still go to Heaven. Is that true? If you should be one of that group, it sure sounds good. But, is it true? Let’s look at what the Bible says.
God does not force His will on anyone. We are free moral agents and have been given the power of choice. John 3:16 tells us that anyone, whosoever turns to Jesus and believes, will not be lost. Can someone reject God’s plan of salvation? Certainly. Can the lowest, rottenest person you ever knew be saved? Yes! It is by the grace of God. His love is that pure and that strong.
Then what does it mean when the word predestinate is used? It is referring to God’s will, God’s word and God’s plan. The promises God has made in His Word will surely stand. The warnings He has given will come to pass. If we believe what He said and walk therein by faith, the devil, Satan, cannot stop God’s Word from coming to pass. The blood of Jesus cleanses from all sin when we accept Jesus as our Savior. It will be just as God has decreed in His Word. It is predestinated that if we will not forgive someone who has done us harm, we will not be forgiven by God.
The Bible says in John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” What does that mean? There is no way to Heaven except through Jesus Christ. It has been declared in God’s Word and God will not change, nor will, His Word. It is clear that Jesus is the way. Jesus is the truth. Jesus is the life. If He lives in your heart then you are on your way to Heaven. If He does not live in your heart Heaven will not be your home. Your choice.
God’s Word has warned us that a great tribulation period of seven-year duration will soon be upon the earth. God has predestinated it to be so. It is a period of great wrath and there will be much pain and sorrow. Will any escape? Yes! Those that are truly children of God, the Church will be spared the wrath of God. It is written. It is predestinated. It’s coming.
Read Hebrews 3:7-12. Notice in the 12th verse that the writer is writing to the “Brethren.” Heb 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. Evidently one can depart from the faith. Jeremiah speaks several times of “backsliding Israel”.
Search the scriptures for yourselves. Don’t take a chance of being religious but not righteous. God has declared His will, His position. It is predestinated, His Word will not fail whether it be a promise or a warning. He loves you and is not willing that any would perish.
