Devastating flood brings people together

As of Saturday, it has officially been one month since the flood hit our area. The devastation that came with the flood has taken away homes and personal belongings of so many in our county and surrounding counties that it’s going to take a long time build back all that was lost.
Businesses lost buildings and all of their inventories and many of the things that it takes to run the day-to-day business that many rely on. Schools have been destroyed and will have to be torn down and rebuilt. Memories were lost from so many years at the schools. Even lives were lost in this horrible storm that Mother Nature brought.
In all of the things lost, so much has been gained. New friendships were made, people came from far away to help out and donate supplies needed to clean up all of the rubble and homes and belongings that were washed away. People have come together to help out one another. Although the flood was devastating, the new memories and friendships are something we can all hold onto. Personal items can be replaced; homes, businesses and schools can be rebuilt and new memories made.
Out of all the bad, there’s still good. Everyone who has lost a little or lost a lot has had such high spirits considering the circumstances. Remember, in the good times and the bad, the Lord still provides and takes care of his people. He will send his people to help where help is needed. Friends and neighbors will be there for each other and help as much as they can. Look ahead to the things that are to come and stay positive even when you think you can’t.
We as west Virginians will make it through this and come back stronger than we were before. Best wishes and prayers for everyone affected by the flood, whether you were personally affected, or you donated time or supplies or whatever else to help those out that are in need.
