Maysel Park was ablaze this past week as youth from kindergarten through the 5th grade in area schools arrived to participate in the 2016 Outback Olympics.  Bunny Taylor, long time resident and teacher in Clay County, got the event started a few years back so that the youth in area elementary schools could get out for a day of fun and let their hair down.  It is not a competition so to speak, it is an end of the year event that allows the kids to take part in several different types of games to get rid of the stress of school life.
However, if not for someone to have had a dream and to care about the youth enough to go to such extremes to make it a fun day for all, the field would be just an empty field.  Superintendent Kenneth Tanner, and Assistant Joe Paxton were on hand to give out awards to the kids.  All in all, it was a great two days for the kids who participated and a great day to kick off summer fun.
